Asia Cup: Nepal faces massive defeat against Pakistan

Chasing a mammoth victory target of 343 runs, Nepal lost to host Pakistan by 238 runs in the inaugural match of the Asia Cup cricket tournament, 2023 organised by the Asian Cricket Council. Nepal were all out in 23.4 overs, with only 104 runs on the board. After losing two wickets in the first over and the third in the second over Nepal was in serious trouble in their pursuit of making a match out of it.

MCC Nepal Compact Starts 5-Year Project Timeline

The Government of Nepal (GoN) and Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) marked the official start of implementation for the MCC Nepal Compact Program, a program jointly funded by the GoN and MCC. The milestone follows an agreement between GoN and MCC that substantial progress on project preparation has been achieved.

Maoist Center Vice Chairman’s son, Rahul Mahara, taken into CIB custody

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police apprehended Rahul Mahara, the son of CPN-Maoist Center’s Vice Chairman Krishna Bahadur Mahara, on Wednesday afternoon. SP Navaraj Adhikari, the spokesperson for CIB, confirmed that Rahul Mahara was taken into custody today. “We have detained him for investigation purposes,” stated SP Adhikari.

Three passengers killed after a stone strikes a moving jeep in Palpa

Tragedy struck in Palpa’s Ribdikot on Wednesday as a rolling stone struck a moving jeep, resulting in the loss of three lives. Five passengers sustained injuries in the incident, according to local authorities. Om Prasad Pokhrel, the Ward Chairman of Ribdikot Rural Municipality-2, stated that the incident occurred when a rock descended onto a jeep bearing license plate Lu 1 J 4600.

Koshi govt submits reply to SC, claims CM Thapa’s vote of confidence is constitutional

The Koshi Province government has responded in writing to the Supreme Court, defending Chief Minister Uddhav Thapa’s recent vote of confidence. The government argues that the action adheres to Article 188 of the Constitution, which permits the presiding lawmaker of the assembly to participate in voting. This contrasts with Article 186, the basis of CPN-UML party’s challenge, which does not allow the presiding lawmaker to vote.

A Buddha Air flight with CPN-UML leaders had to return to Kathmandu after encountering difficulties while attempting to land in Janakpur.
