ANFA bids farewell to Nepali football team playing SAFF U-16



KATHMANDU: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) bid farewell to the Nepali national team leaving home to contest in the SAFF U-16 football tournament to be held in Bhutan.

ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nemwang wished the team their best at a program organized at ANFA Complex Satdobato on Wednesday.

The team includes 23 players, coaches, physicians, assistant coaches, and a total of 30.

The tournament will be held from September 1 to 10 in Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan.

Six teams participating in the tournament have been divided into two groups. Nepal is in Group A along with India and Bangladesh, while Group B consists of hosts Bhutan, Maldives, and Pakistan.

Nepal will play its first match against Bangladesh on September 3.

In the previous competition, Nepal reached close to the title four times. Nepal became the runner-up in the 2013, 2017, 2019 and 2022 editions. Ravindra Shilakar is the coach of the Nepalese team.

Goalkeepers: Bishesh Baniya, Pemba Nurbu Bhote, Bhakta Bahadur Pariyar

Defenders Ekraj Bishwakarma, Kishan Thapa, Arvind Kumar Dhami, Bhuwan Kami, Prashant Moktan, Nishan Raj Lawot, Kishore Kumar Danwar, Sharan S.K.

Midfielders: Sujal Syangtan, Ram Thami, Pemba Tamang, Ganesh Pulami Magar, Vinayak Tharu, Subas Bam, Laxman Thami, Dilan Limbu.

Forwards: Santosh Gongwa, Rohit Shrestha, Himesh Majhi, Darshan Adhikari
