Four RSP lawmakers reach High Court to challenge EC decision

KATHMANDU: Four lawmakers of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) have filed a writ against the Election Commission in the Patan High Court on Sunday.

Federal parliament lawmakers Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, Shishir Khanal, Sovita Gautam and Ganesh Parajuli filed a writ petition against the Commission.

They accused the central election authority of fining them despite their submission of election expenses details at the EC.

The lawmakers were fined Rs 15,000 each.

The RSP lawmakers argued that EC should ask for an explanation before fining and should take action only when the given explanation is not satisfactory.
