SC receives writ against  Resham Chaudhary

KATHMANDU: A writ has been filed in the Supreme Court on Tuesday against the former lawmaker and patron of Nagarik Unmukti Party Resham Chaudhary, who was released on Monday after getting an amnesty from the President.

Disgruntled at the release, the victim police inspector Keshav Bohora’s wife filed a petition in the Supreme Court.

Chaudhary, who was in Dillibazar jail after being convicted by the District, High, and Supreme Courts for being the main planner of the Tikapur massacre of August 24, 2015, had been garnering support from major political parties including the top leaders of Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Center and CPN-UML.

The Supreme Court confirmed that the writ petition against Chaudhary has been registered. The hearing of the case is scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday).

Chaudhary, who was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Supreme Court, has already reached Tikapur after being released from prison.

He is the husband of Land Management, Cooperative, and Poverty Alleviation Ranjita Shrestha Chaudhary.
