Government appoints Gyawali, Shakya and Mahat as NPC members

The government on Monday appointed three members to the National Planning Commission (NPC). Government Spokesperson Rekha Sharma said that a meeting of the cabinet held on Monday decided to appoint Sushil Gyawali, Anjan Shakya and Kushendra Shahi Mahat as NPC members.

US trying to maintain strong relationship with Nepal’s neighbors: Nuland

The United States will have more engagements with China in the coming weeks, US Under-Secretary of State Nuland, who is on a two-day Nepal visit, said on Monday. “The United States wants to have good relations with both of Nepal’s big neighbors – India and China,” she told journalists in Patan on Monday.

Kathmandu Mayor Balen holds talks with PM Dahal

Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balen Shah met Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda on Monday morning. The ruling CPN-Maoist Center has called the standing committee meeting of the party on Wednesday. Speaking to the reporters in party’s central office at Parisdanda, Kathmandu, the Party spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara informed that the office bearers meeting held on Monday decided to hold SC meeting on Wednesday.

EC publishes schedule for President, Vice-President election

The Election Commission (EC) has fixed the date for the election of the President and Vice President. According to the EC, the presidential election will take place on March 9, Thursday and that of the Vice President on March 17, Friday.

NEPSE declines by 41 points on Monday, turnover close to 3.5 billion

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has fallen sharply by double digits on Monday as well. It declined by 41.16 points and closed at 2127.37 points today. The stock market, which started to increase from the last week of December after the formation of the new government, was experiencing a normal decline for the past two weeks. NEPSE fell by 1.90 percent today.
