Hearing on Sandeep Lamichhane rape case to continue today

KATHMANDU: The conclusive phase of the trial concerning cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane’s rape case will continue today following a postponement on Thursday due to incomplete proceedings.

The Kathmandu District Court has been hosting continuous hearings on the case since December 24, with Judge Shishir Raj Dhakal presiding over the bench.

Notably, Lamichhane had been remanded to judicial custody in connection with the juvenile rape case by the Kathmandu District Court.

However, the Patan High Court subsequently ordered his release on a bail of Rs. 2 million.

The Supreme Court also issued an order granting Lamichhane permission to resume playing cricket abroad.

These legal turns have added complexity to the case, which continues to unfold within the judicial framework.
