KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) clarified its commitment to upholding the Constitution, highlighting that party President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s remarks on secularism reflect his personal views.

Following the gathering of current and former office bearers at President Deuba’s residence in Dhumbarahi, Min Bishwakarma, the Head of the Publicity Department, emphasized that the NC remains within the bounds set by the Constitution.

Earlier, during addresses in Nawalpur and Chitwan, NC President Deuba indicated the party’s willingness to engage in discussions concerning the provisions related to secularism.

Bishwakarma acknowledged the recent anti-establishment activities but stressed that this topic was not currently under discussion within the party. Nonetheless, he underlined the party’s awareness of such activities.

He clarified that President Deuba’s commentary on secularism was a personal expression and not a subject actively deliberated within the party.

Additionally, Bishwakarma revealed that today’s meeting had discussed the upcoming Mahasamiti meeting.

NC has slated its Mahasamiti meeting for  January 1-4, 2024.
