Shekhar Koirala urges Guterres to spotlight Nepal’s climate change crisis on the global stage

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala emphasized the urgent need for global attention to Nepal’s plight in the face of climate change during a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Koirala expressed concern to Guterres about the dire consequences of climate change on the Nepalese populace.

“I heard that you are going to Everest base camp. The impact of climate change is now more than before. When you get there, you realize how much trouble the Nepalese are in. You should raise this voice on the world stage,” a source quoted Koirala as saying.

In a separate engagement, Guterres held meetings with Nepali Congress leaders today, including President Sher Bahadur Deuba, leader Dr. Koirala, and Dhanraj Gurung, among others.
