UN Secretary-General Guterres calls on Prime Minister Dahal at Singha Durbar



KATHMANDU: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’ has called on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’  the latter’s office at Singha Durbar, Kathmandu.

The meeting took place at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Sunday afternoon, where discussions encompassed matters of bilateral significance and national and global importance.

Speaking to journalists following the meeting, Prime Minister Dahal emphasized the cordial and constructive atmosphere of the discussions with the UN Secretary-General.

“We had friendly and productive conversations about bilateral concerns, ongoing national and international issues,” Prime Minister Dahal noted. He also commended Secretary-General Guterres for his active role in addressing climate change issues and mitigating their adverse effects.

In addition, the talks extended to matters that have yet to be resolved, despite Nepal’s peace process nearing its conclusion.

“There was a recognition of the potential role of the international community and the Secretary-General in bringing the peace process to its culmination,” Prime Minister Dahal stated. Economic development and prosperity in Nepal were also key points of discussion.

Prime Minister Dahal praised the Secretary-General’s knowledge of Nepal’s political developments and other important issues. He expressed optimism about the visit’s potential to facilitate stronger relations between the United Nations and Nepal, as well as with the international community.

“After this visit, we believe that it will play an important role in enhancing our collaboration with the United Nations, Nepal, and the international community,” Prime Minister Dahal concluded.
