Visiting UN Secretary-General engages in high-level meetings

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres who is currently in Nepal in the course of his four-day official visit engaged in high-level meetings today. He held a courtesy meeting with Nepal’s President Ram Chandra Paudel at the Office of the President. Prior to this, Secretary-General Guterres also held talks with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ at the Prime Minister’s office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Bodies of three more students killed in Israel identified; two still in hospital

The Nepali Embassy in Israel has identified the bodies of three more Nepali students who lost their lives in the Hamas attack in Israel. The deceased have been identified as Padam Bahadur Thapa, Pravesh Bhandari, and Rajan Phulara, and their names, along with passport numbers, have been released by the Embassy.

Maoist Chair Prachanda ‘disrupting’ Nepal’s peace process, Oli tells Guterres

Chairman of the main opposition party CPN-UML KP Oli accused Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda of causing disruptions in the completion of the peace process due to wha he said Prachanda’s “dominant attitude.” During a meeting with United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres at the Federal Parliament Building on Sunday, Oli highlighted that Prime Minister Dahal’s support for violent activities has made the peace process challenging.

UN Secretary-General Guterres and DPM Khadka hold talks

Visiting United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense, Purna Bahadur Khadka, held talks at Singha Durbar on Sunday. Prior to this, Defense secretary Kiran Raj Sharma welcomed the UN Secretary-General to the Ministry.

UN Secretary-General Guterres visiting Pokhara tomorrow

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is scheduled to visit Pokhara on Monday as part of his four-day official trip to Nepal. He arrived in Kathmandu today and will continue his visit in Pokhara. Two arrested for alleged murder of a friend in Dhanusha

Dhanusha police arrested two individuals suspected of being involved in the killing of their friend. Pawan Sahni from Janakpurdham-24 and Harichan Mandal from Musahari tol of Janakpurdham-24 have been taken into custody on the accusation of being complicit in the murder of Rupesh Mahara Chamar from Janakpurdham sub-metropolitan ward number-24.

Nepali peacekeeper injured in Israel-Lebanon border area

A Nepali soldier, serving in the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Lebanon, sustained injuries in southern Lebanon near the border with Israel. Brigadier General Krishna Prasad Bhandari, the military spokesperson, reported that a Nepali peacekeeper suffered minor injuries when a mortar shell possibly landed on October 28 at 10:20 pm local time.
