JANAKPURDHAM: Dhanusha police arrested two individuals suspected of being involved in the killing of their friend.
Pawan Sahni from Janakpurdham-24 and Harichan Mandal from Musahari tol of Janakpurdham-24 have been taken into custody on the accusation of being complicit in the murder of Rupesh Mahara Chamar from Janakpurdham sub-metropolitan ward number-24.
On October 27, the body of Mahara was found in a paddy field near the ISKCON Temple.
The arrests of Sahni and Mandal followed a preliminary investigation by the police, indicating their alleged involvement in the crime.
According to Dhanusha District Police Office’s Superintendent Bishwaraj Khadka, the altercation leading to the fatal blow occurred after a dispute among three individuals who had consumed prohibited drugs from across the Nepal-India border in Jatahi.
Reportedly, Harichan struck Rupesh on the head with a stick from behind, resulting in his demise.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the police have recovered the deceased’s bicycle, the mobile set, the t-shirt worn by Harichan during the incident, the bamboo basket, and Pawan Sahni’s mobile phone.
The police have initiated further inquiry proceedings by filing a case of duty killing against the two arrested individuals.
