Unified Socialist to launch Socialist Awakening Campaign from October 1

KATHMANDU: The CPN-Unified Socialist is set to launch a nationwide socialist awakening campaign, 2080 from coming October 1.

To be started from the Mechi River in Kakadvitta in Jhapa at 9 am, the campaign will go through many places across the country before concluding with a corner meet in Surkhet district on October 16, said party’s Deputy Secretary-General and spokesperson Jagannath Khatiwada.

According to him, as part of the campaign, many big and small meetings would be held at various places. Similarly, the party’s agenda and programs on socialism and making the country prosperous would be shared with people, and advice would be taken from them regarding gaining clarity on the next moves of the party.

The campaign is expected to pile pressure to maintain good governance, create job opportunities, spearhead agricultural revolution, call for the protection of border pillars, for the government to purchase products produced by farmers, determine prices for agricultural produce, and make Nepal self-reliant, informed Khatiwada.

“The Socialist Awakening Campaign-2080 will connect the party with the people. The campaign pays heed to people and takes cognizance of concerns of people for policy making,” he shared.

Meanwhile, the Unified Socialist is set to organize its general convention from 28 January to 1 February 2024, it was said.
