NC abides by SC verdict on Koshi Province: Prakash Man Singh

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Prakash Man Singh asserted that his party would abide by the verdict of the Supreme Court (SC) on the Koshi Province government.

The SC recently nullified the appointment of Uddhav Thapa as Chief Minister of Koshi Province finding his appointment contradictory to the law.

Talking to media persons in Chitwan today, leader Singh, also the former Deputy Prime Minister, said that NC was in favor of the rule of law.

“Since NC is a law-abiding party, we accept the Supreme Court’s verdict. The party, heartily accepting the Supreme Court verdict, is currently discussing with the political parties regarding the formation of government in the Koshi Province,” the leader said.

The province is autonomous in itself, he said, adding that the party’s parliamentary leader in the province would decide on the formation of government in the province.

According to him, the party’s central and provincial level organizations were coordinating in this regard and there would be no interference from the center.
