Dr Kandel nominated for Bhanu Award and Nepal for Asim Award



KATHMANDU: This year’s the Bhanu Award is to be presented to litterateur Prof Ghanashyam Kandel.

A meeting of the Nepali Education Council presided over by the Council chairperson Rama Sharma decided to confer the award on Dr Kandel in recognition to his outstanding contribution to the promotion and enriching Nepali language and literature.

Similarly, the Gopal Pande Asim Award is to be presented to another noted litterateur Shailendu Prakash Nepal.

This award is also given by the Council. The Bhanu Award carries a purse of Rs 150 thousand and Letter of Commendation while the Gopal Pande Asim Award carries a purse of Rs 50 thousand and a Letter of Appreciation.

The former award would be handed on the occasion of Bhanu Jayanti on Asar 29 or July 14 and the latter on the day of Asim Jayanti, Council secretary Laxman Thapa said.
