RSP chairman Lamichhane meets Prachanda to mount pressure for Home Ministry claim

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) chairman and former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, who was forced to resign on Friday after the Supreme Court’s verdict against him, reached Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Sunday evening.

Earlier, CPN-UML chairman KP Oli had met Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ in Baluwatar.

The Prime Minister and the RSP chairman met after UML chairman Oli left.

According to high-ranking sources, Lamichhane went to Baluwatar to claim his post of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister again.

The sources claimed that UML Chair Oli also pressured the Prime Minister Dahal to reinstate Lamichhane as Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister again.

According to Lamichhane’s personal secretary Prakash Sigdel, he (Lamichhane) went to Baluwatar to inform the Prime Minister about the RSP central Committee’s decision. The meeting held after Lamichhane re-acquired citizenship from District Administration Office Kathmandu on Sunday morning decided to re-appoint Lamichhane and also agreed to claim for the position of deputy prime minister and home minister.

The RSP chair met Prime Minister Dahal to make this claim.
