KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane, former Home Minister, has acquired Nepali citizenship from District Administration Office, Kathmandu on Sunday.

Earlier, a large number of security personnel was mobilized in the DAO premises when Lamichhane reached there to acquire citizenship.

Although Lamichhane had renounced his American citizenship, he had not completed the process to regain his Nepali citizenship.

On Friday, the Supreme Court revoked Lamichhane’s position as a Member of Parliament.

Lamichhane was the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Member of Parliament elected from Chitwan 2 and the leader of the RSP.

Following the SC’s decision, currently, Lamichhane is not in all these positions.
