KATHMANDU: Following an eight-month and three-day investigation, the inquiry commission, led by former secretary Nagendra Prasad Ghimire, has unequivocally attributed the plane crash of Yeti Airlines in Pokhara last year to human error.

The Commission submitted its comprehensive report today to Sudan Kirati, the Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation.

On January 15, in response to the tragic incident in Pokhara, the government formed a five-member commission of inquiry under the adept coordination of former secretary Ghimire.

The Commission included aviation expert Nepali Army retired Captain Deepak Prakash Bastola, retired Captain Sunil Thapa, aircraft maintenance engineer Ekraj Jung Thapa, and Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Budhisagar Lamichhane, serving as the member secretary.

Minister Kirati, upon reviewing the report, instructed subordinate agencies to rigorously enforce the recommendations provided by the Commission.

The conclusive findings shed light on the critical role of human error in the unfortunate Yeti Airlines plane crash which killed 76 people onboard, emphasizing the importance of implementing preventive measures to enhance aviation safety in the future.
