BIRATNAGAR: CPN-UML staged a protest in the Koshi province assembly, criticizing Chief Minister Kedar Karki, whom the party had supported, for trimming the budget and deviating from the previously agreed plans while UML was a part of the cabinet.
As today’s provincial assembly session commenced, members of UML and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) stood in protest. Israel Mansuri, presiding over the Speaker’s seat, allotted time for UML’s Deputy Leader in the provincial assembly, Ram Rana, to address the assembly.
UML officials allege that the replacement bill presented in the House to supplant the Budget Ordinance has been altered without consensus.
Deputy Leader Rana voiced his dissatisfaction, emphasizing that the budget didn’t align with the agreed-upon terms. “Has this government considered the consequences if this budget is rejected?” Rana questioned.
Members of UML, RPP, and even the ruling Nepali Congress have raised objections against the government’s bill aimed at substituting the budget.
Presently, discussions regarding the budget are underway within the provincial assembly.
