Police probe grisly murder of family in Mugu

MUGU: The police are maintaining a watchful presence in Chhayannath Rara Municipality-6,  Mundugaun, Mugu, where a harrowing incident left four members of the same family dead.

The lifeless bodies of Sridevi Bohora and her three children were discovered on the morning of October 27. Authorities suspect that the heinous crime took place during the night of October 25.

On the occasion of Dashain, which fell on October 24, Sridevi and her three children visited her parental village.

When the locals noticed the locked door on October 26 they speculated that the family might still be in the maternal village. However, the door remained locked on the subsequent day. Finally, on the morning of October 27, alarmed residents took action, breaking the door open, only to make the grim discovery of the four lifeless bodies.

Following the shocking revelation, the Mugu police dispatched a team to secure the crime scene. A specialized unit from the Karnali police has also been mobilized to investigate this heart-wrenching incident.

DIG Bhim Dhakal announced the deployment of one team from Jumla and two teams from Surkhet, with one already on-site and the remaining two en route, expected to arrive later in the afternoon.

A five-member special team led by Senior Sub Inspector Narayan Sharma has been dispatched from Surkhet to take charge of the situation. Additionally, a team with trained police dogs is also part of the investigation effort.

On October 27, a police team led by DSP Birendra Thapa from the District Police Office, Mugu, arrived at the scene.

According to DIG Dhakal, a comprehensive inquiry is underway, as authorities are leaving no stone unturned.

The police have been actively questioning local residents since Friday. While preliminary information has been collected, the identity of the perpetrator and the motive behind this gruesome act remain shrouded in mystery.

Consequently, the police have cordoned off the area, ensuring its preservation until the arrival of the expert investigative team.
