Foreign Minister Saud leaving for United States on Oct 29



KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs, NP Saud, is leaving for the United States on October 29.

According to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) source, the visit will be preceded by a meeting with United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in Nepal on Sunday, followed by Minister Saud’s departure for the United States on the same day.

During his visit, Foreign Minister Saud is slated to hold crucial discussions with US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken in Washington, DC.

Furthermore, he is expected to engage with Samantha Power, the Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Alice P. Albright, Chief Executive Officer of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), and other senior officials from the US government.

As part of his itinerary, Minister Saud will also meet with Congressman Mike Kerry, the co-chairman of the Nepal Caucus of the American Congress.

Additional highlights include a talk program at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), interactions with the Nepali-American business community, a meeting with the Information Technology Advisory Network, and engagements with representatives of non-resident Nepalese associations and Nepali-American businessmen.

Accompanying Foreign Minister Saud on the delegation are Shreedhar Khatri, the Nepali ambassador to the US; senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Nepali Embassy in Washington, DC, along with the President of Nepal’s FNCCI and the American Chamber of Commerce.

Foreign Minister Saud is scheduled to return to Kathmandu on November 5, following the completion of his visit.
