Gandaki CM Pandey discusses tourism, bilateral cooperation with US Deputy Secretary of State Wynne



POKHARA: Gandaki Province Chief Minister (CM) Surendra Raj Pandey and United States Deputy Secretary of State Janine Wynne engaged in a productive discussion during their courtesy meeting today.

CM Pandey emphasized the vital role of tourism in the development of Gandaki Province and proposed potential areas of cooperation between the United States and Nepal in this sector.

He underlined that the provincial government’s primary focus is on investing in tourism and highlighted the importance of support from donor countries in achieving this objective.

Furthermore, CM Pandey expressed interest in collaborating with the United States in enhancing livelihood opportunities, specifically in rural areas.

He emphasized the need for initiatives to curb migration and create employment opportunities within villages.

US Deputy Secretary of State Wynne acknowledged the enduring cordial relations between Nepal and the United States government.

She affirmed a commitment to cooperation in the government’s priority areas and noted her first visit to Pokhara.

Wynne also praised the natural beauty of Pokhara and its potential to attract tourists.
