JANAKPURDHAM: The body of a married girl who was about to be burnt in Sarlahi has been seized by the police from the pyre.

Police recovered the body of 21-year-old Manisha Sah, wife of Sunil Sah of Khairwa, Ramnagar Rural Municipality-1, Sarlahi, from the pyre.

Spokesman of District Police Office Sarlahi, DSP Dipendra Panjiar informed that Manisha’s body was taken into custody while it was ready to be burnt at Manushmara Ghat on Wednesday afternoon.

As the incident looked suspicious, the police arrested the girl’s husband and three family members from the ghat.

DSP Panjiar said that the husband Sunil, father-in-law Rameshwar, and brother-in-law Rambabu were arrested and kept in custody for investigation.

Family members have claimed that Manisha, who was suffering from epilepsy, committed suicide. However, DSP Panjiyar suspected that the woman was incited for the suicide and the police are investigating to collect evidence.

According to DSP Panjiyar, the suspicion grew as the family took the body to the ghat and started burning it without informing the police, and the hearse people ran away at the sight of the police.
