KATHMANDU: Nepal Trade Union Congress (NTUC) has demanded to determine the minimum remuneration of workers soon through Minimum Wages Fixation Board.

NTUC is the trade union close to the Nepali Congress.

Issuing a press release today, NTUC General-Secretary Ajay Kumar Rai, recalled that the Labour Act, 2074, has a provision that the minimum wages of workers should be determined based on tripartite consensus in every two years.

The press release demanded to determine the minimum wages through Board, saying this provision has not been implemented so far.

Rai mentioned, “It is the matter of concern that the government has not yet fixed the minimum wages of workers even after the second week of current fiscal year. We ask to determine the minimum wages by calling a meeting of the Board immediately.”

The Nepal Trade Union Congress has been demanding to fix Rs 25,000 as the minimum wages of the workers.

He urged the government not to make any delay to determine the minimum wages of the workers.
