KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Judicial Council (JC) to appoint judges is taking place today.

A meeting held on Monday regarding the appointment of judges ended inconclusively.

It is likely that today’s meeting to be chaired by Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki will appoint judges.

On Monday, the Judicial Council discussed the appointment of 46 vacant judges in the High Court and 6 vacant judges in the Supreme Court.

In the first phase, preparations will be made to appoint 27 judges in the High Court and 6 judges in the Supreme Court.

District judges have been demanding that they should be given priority in promotion.
