KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) will join the government led by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda after finalizing some necessary procedures, party Spokesperson Prakash Sharan Mahat said.
NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba is “in touch” with PM Dahal in this regard.
“NC will take a decision after discussing with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda about joining the government,” Mahat said.
PM Dahal will take this proposal at a meeting of the eight political parties soon.
Nepali Congress is of the view that PM Dahal should now call a meeting of the eight coalition partners and discuss the issue.
It may be noted that the CPN-UML quit the government and even withdrew its support to the PM Dahal-led government on Monday.
Another coalition partner — the Rastriya Prajatantra Party — also quit and withdrew its support to the government on Sunday.
However, the Rastriya Swatantra Party, on Monday decided not to withdraw its support to the government.
Meanwhile, PM Dahal should take a vote of confidence from the parliament within one month according to the constitutional provision.
