Home Ministry denies Rabi Lamichhane ‘former minister’ status

KATHMANDU: The Home Ministry has not even included the name of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) chairman Rabi Lamichhane, who was sacked over the citizenship dispute, in the list of former ministers.

Lamichhane was sacked after the Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court annulled his status of lawmaker and ordered him to regain his citizenship on Friday.

Soon after that, the ministry removed his name from the home ministry website.

Although there are names of 20 people who have been home ministers since 1990s  in the list of former home ministers, Lamichhane’s name is not there.

Elected from Chitwan-2 from RSP, Lamichhane was sworn in as the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister on December 26. He remained as minister for only 32 days.
