Search for last victim of Yeti Airlines plane crash still going on



POKHARA: The search and rescue operation conducted by the Nepal Army following the crash of Yeti Airlines aircraft in Pokhara is ongoing.

Although the Kaski District Security Committee meeting decided to withdraw the search and rescue team deployed at the accident site on January 21, NA spokesperson Krishna Prasad Bhandari told RSS that the search for the last victim of the air crash is still ongoing.

The plane, with 72 people on board, including four crew members, crashed after falling into the Seti River gorge near Naya Gaon, Pokhara on January 15.

The Nepal Army, in collaboration with the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force, retrieved the dead bodies from the crash site and took them to the hospital for examination. They also collected all the parts of the aircraft including the block box and handed them to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal.

The joint team found the bodies of 71 people who died in the accident.
The body of one more person on board the aircraft and feared to have died is yet to be found.
