President Paudel visits Shaligram museum in Baglung



BAGLUNG: President Ramchandra Paudel visited the Shaligram Museum in Kundule, Baglung municipality-4, on Wednesday afternoon.

Arriving Baglung in the morning to attend the Seventh Baglung Festival, the President took the opportunity to observe the museum.

Shaligram, revered as a symbol of Hindu god Vishnu, holds significant religious importance.

During the visit, President Paudel received a warm welcome from Muktinath Pithadhishwor Swami Kamal Nayanacharya and Rhishi Prapannacharya, among others.

Expressing gratitude to the museum management for their efforts in collecting and preserving Shaligram stones from the Kaligandaki River, President Paudel emphasized his special connection with Baglung.

He shared details about spending a significant period in Baglung, including time in Baglung jail during his involvement in the people’s movement of the 1990s.

Highlighting the importance of preserving the Kaligandaki, he warned against its potential fate similar to the Bagamati River.

Emphasizing Nepal’s rich cultural and religious heritage, the President urged all stakeholders to prioritize cultural preservation. He stressed the essentiality of conserving water resources, stating that human life depends on it. Urgency in preserving mountains, forests, and rivers was underscored to safeguard water sources.

Expressing his deep affection for Baglung, he acknowledged the community’s contributions to his current position.
