India’s Development Initiatives in Nepal: Kapilvastu witnesses inauguration of school projects



KAPILVASTU: The School and Laboratory buildings of Shree Gautam Buddha Secondary School (SGBSS), Buddhabhumi, Kapilvastu constructed under the Nepal-India Development Cooperation Scheme has been officially inaugurated today.

Prasanna Shrivastava, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, along with local political figures and community representatives, marked the formal opening of these educational facilities.

The project, a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP), included the construction of a double-storied school building, a three-storied lab building, and the procurement of necessary furniture and lab equipment.

Shrivastava emphasized the project’s significance within the strong bilateral development partnership between India and Nepal. This partnership has made substantial progress in various sectors, aligning with Nepal’s governmental priorities and serving the welfare of both nations’ citizens.

The School, established in 1978, caters to over 1,200 students, with approximately 52% being girls. Affiliated with the National Examination Board and approved by the Ministry of Education, the school offers education from Play Group to 10+2 Level.

India’s aid in Nepal spans over 550 High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) since 2003, benefitting various sectors. In the Lumbini Province alone, 60 projects, including five in Kapilvastu, have been executed. Additionally, India has generously provided 974 ambulances and 234 school buses to healthcare and educational institutions across Nepal.
