KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal (RPP-N) Chairman Kamal Thapa has suggested creating a front comprising pro-monarchy forces and factions in a bid to consolidate efforts supporting the restoration of the monarchy in Nepal.

Speaking at a meeting of the party’s Central Executive Committee in Kathmandu on Monday morning, Thapa suggested the formation of a unified front to unite various royalist factions.

A source, quoting Kamal Thapa, stated, “Given the immediate challenges in achieving party unity among proponents of monarchy, Thapa’s proposal is to establish a united front for collaborative efforts.”

Reports indicate that Thapa is gearing up to issue a formal call for the formation of this front through an official statement later today.

Political leaders, including RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden, RPP-N Chairman Thapa, Keshar Bahadur Bista, and others are at the forefront of parties advocating for the reinstatement of the monarchy in Nepal.

Simultaneously, campaigner Durga Prasai has initiated a movement.

Recognizing the existing discord among royalist factions and their inability to find common ground, sources suggest that efforts are underway to enlist former Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand to lead the envisioned front, acknowledging his potential to bridge divides within the royalist community.

Thapa has proposed the move in a bid to achieve the goal of dismantling the corrupt system in the guise of a federal republic.

He has also suggested that it is imperative for like-minded individuals to unite to establish a constitutional monarchy and a Hindu nation, abolishing federalism, and fostering good governance and prosperity.

According to him, RPP Nepal will invite to various parties and groups to come together and form a formidable national front, aligning with the current demands and the aspirations of the people.

“Realizing a positive transformation in the country necessitates collaboration among individuals who share similar visions, rather than operating in isolation,” his proposal stated.
