Nepal-China agreements serve nation’s interest: DPM Khadka



KARNALI: Deputy Prime Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka has said the government is committed to implementing federalism.

The Deputy Prime Minister who also presently takes charge of the acting Prime Minister was speaking at a press meet in Birendranagar of Surkhet today.

As he said, citizens are yet to feel the presence of federalism and the government is committed to addressing such situation.

He took time to say that the Federal Education Bill has been already tabled in the Federal Parliament and the government is preparing to introduce the Federal Civil Service Bill and the Bill relating to police.

DPM and Acting PM Khadka claimed that the government’s endeavors for good governance and development are visible and it will be soon announcing a special program aiming to promote good governance.

Talking about Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s present visit to China, he said the Prime Minister had agreed on the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative as per the consensus among the ruling alliance. “Understandings and agreements that Nepal signed with China are in the interest of the nation,” he said.

According to him, the government has proceeded with the amendments to some Nepal Acts to remove legal hurdles in the development efforts.

“Land acquisition issue is one of the major pressing challenges in undertaking development efforts. We have proceeded with the amendment to some Nepal Acts to address the problem.”

Khadka, also the Minister for Defence, underlined the need for support and cooperation from all quarters to implement the project to upgrade Surkhet Airport. The airport area is viable for extension up to 400 meters. This will not be sufficient to meet the future demand. One more airport shall be constructed at Ramghat for the future purpose.
