Lawmakers file candidacy for leadership of 10 parliamentary committees (With names)

KATHMANDU: Nominations for the Chairmen of 10 thematic committees of the House of Representatives have been registered on Sunday.

Lawmakers of different parties have registered their candidatures based on party affiliation.

On behalf of the main opposition CPN-UML, Rishikesh Pokharel and Kiran Kumar Sah have submitted their candidature for the chairmanship of the Public Account and Women and Social Committee respectively.

Rajendra KC is the proponent of Pokharel and Damodar Bhandari is his supporter. Likewise, Shanti BK is the proponent of Sah and Ashma Kumari Chaudhary is the supporter of the proposal.

The candidacy of Bimala Subedi of the CPN-Maoist Center has been registered for the chairmanship of the Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee. Her proponents are Purna Bahadur Gharti, her supporters are Mahesh Bartaula, Ramesh Lekhak, and Dhruva Bahadur Pradhan.

Deepak Kumar Singh of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party has been nominated for the Infrastructure Development Committee. His proponent is Madhav Sapkota and his supporter is Prem Bahadur Maharjan.

Abdul Khan of Janamat Party has been nominated as the Chairman of the Industry and Commerce, Labor and Consumer Interest Committee, Raj Kishor Yadav of Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal as Chairman of the International Relations and Tourism Committee, Ram Hari Khatiwada is the candidate for the Chairman of State Order and Good Governance Committee and Arju Rana Deuba of Nepali Congress as Chairman of Agriculture, Cooperative and Natural Resources Committee. Khatiwada and Rana are both from Nepali Congress.

Similarly, another NC lawmaker Santosh Chalise has filed his candidacy for the chairmanship of the Finance Committee, and Bhanubhakta Joshi of the CPN-Unified Socialist has filed his candidacy for the chairmanship of the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee.
