Lalita Niwas Scam: Former Election Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Shah arrested



KATHMANDU: The police investigating the Lalita Niwas scam have arrested former Election Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Shah on Monday.

He was arrested by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) team of Nepal Police.

Shah was the Election Commissioner from February 16, 2017, to April 11, 2019.

Sudhir Kumar Shah, who retired from the joint secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, was the section officer at the Land Revenue Office, Bhaktapur.

Central Bureau of Investigation sources said that he, who is also related to the Rana family, assisted behind the scenes in transferring the land of Lalita Niwas to individual ownership.

Sources claim that Sudhir Kumar, who is also a former Commissioner of the Election Commission, got one ropani 11 ana plot of land in the name of his wife Urmila Shah.
