HoR meeting delayed

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the House of Representatives has been delayed.

The meeting called at 4 pm on Saturday did not start on time. On Friday, the meeting of the House of Representatives was adjourned after entering the agenda.

Friday’s meeting, which was called to pass the policy and program, was postponed to Saturday due to CPN-UML’s obstruction.

The UML obstructed the parliament saying that its party parliamentary party leader KP Oli was false accused of embezzlement of gold meant for the installation of jalahari in the Pashupatinath temple.

Top leaders of Nepali Congress, UML and CPN-Maoist Center agreed on Saturday morning agreed to request Speaker remove the controversial statement of Maoist Center lawmaker Lekhnath Dahal from the House of Representatives and run the parliament smoothly.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is scheduled to address the issue in the Parliament today.

Along with this, Padam Giri, chief whip of the UML parliamentary party, told reporters that it was also agreed that UML would not obstruct the parliament.

Chief whips and whips of major parties including NC, UML, Maoist Center are discussing about implementing the agreement of the top leaders. The Parliament session could not start on time due to the prolonged discussion.

PM Dahal is also scheduled to answer the questions raised by the parliamentarians about the policy and program today.

The policy and program of the government will be tabled for ratification after PM Dahal’s speech.
