Prachanda marks milestone: One year as PM, breaking his previous records



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has achieved a significant milestone, surpassing his own records, as his tenure as the Prime Minister of Nepal completes one year.

Prachanda, who has served as Prime Minister three times, has now successfully held the position for a year for the first time in his political career. Previously, his terms were limited to nine months on two occasions.

His current term began on Poush 11, 2079 BS, and to commemorate this achievement, Prachanda is scheduled to address the nation today.

Prachanda’s political journey includes his first election as Prime Minister on Shrawan 31, 2065 BS, where the CPN (Maoist Center) emerged as the largest party in the constitutional assembly election.

For his second term, he was elected on Shrawan 19, 2073 BS, with the support of Nepali Congress, leading to the overthrow of the government led by KP Sharma Oli, Chairman of CPN-UML.
