Kathmandu Metropolis forms negotiation team in response to Activist Group E’s protests

KATHMANDU: In response to the ongoing protest by the Activist group E, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City has formed a negotiation team with the aim of addressing the concerns raised by the protesters, who have been reminding the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of their election promises.

The Metropolitan City has formed a negotiation team, led by spokesperson Naveen Manandhar, who also serves as the Chairman of Ward No. 17.

Spokesperson Manandhar confirmed that his name has been proposed as a member of the negotiation team and indicated that further team members will be determined during an upcoming meeting.

The campaigners of group E have acknowledged the formation of the negotiation committee and are considering the possibility of engaging in discussions by noon.

“The proposal was communicated through informal channels. We will also be forming our own negotiation team,” stated the campaigners.

Earlier this morning, Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol met with members of Activist group E and assured them of her commitment to initiate policies aimed at providing alternative solutions for street vendors. However, she noted that her authority has certain limitations.

Activist group E has been staging a protest against the Metropolitan City’s treatment of street vendors, which they view as inhumane, since last Tuesday at 1:00 pm.

After standing for 165 hours, Deputy Mayor Dangol engaged with the members of group E to address their concerns.
