SURKHET: Bhaktiram Kandel, a 25-year-old resident of Chamundabindrasaini Rural Municipality-3, Dailekh, has been arrested by the police on charges of raping a 14-year-old girl in Deragari, Surkhet.

According to police, Kandel abducted the girl on September 16th, coercing her into an auto rickshaw, and then transported her to the Kankrebihar forest.

The police initiated a search operation upon receiving a complaint about the abduction of a school-going girl.

DSP Laxman Bahadur Shahi, from the District Police Office in Surkhet, reported that Kandel was arrested six days after the incident took place.

He was apprehended at the Ashoka Hotel in Dailekh during the search operation.

DSP Shahi revealed that, on that occasion, Kandel had taken the victim to a hotel near Surkhet Bus Park, subjecting her to multiple instances of molestation while falsely promising marriage, instilling fear in her.
