Landslide obstructs Madan Bhandari highway

UDAYAPUR: Landslide occurred near Mauwasi rivulet of Udayapurgadhi Rural Municipality following the incessant rainfall obstructed the Madan Bhandari highway for two days.

According to the District Police Office, Udayapur, vehicular movement along the highway has been disrupted since Friday morning due to a landslide.

Chief at the District Police Office, Gyanendra Phunyal, said vehicles coming into the district from Kathmandu were stranded at the Katari area while vehicles heading towards Kathmandu from the east at Gaighat after the road blockade.

Although efforts were underway to resume the traffic from Friday morning, it has not been successful owing to continued rainfall and a huge landslide along with rocks, shared Chief of Gaighat-Diktel Road Office, Gopal Prasad Khakurel.

Incessant rainfall has disturbed the removal of landslide debris.
