DHARAN: The 24-hour prohibitory order in view of the public health emergency and sensitivity of peace and security and communal issues has come into effect in Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City.

Chief District Officer Humkala Pandey issued a prohibitory order effective from midnight on Friday to midnight on Saturday.

Pande informed that the prohibitory order was enforced in the wake of the announcement of a ‘public health emergency’ in all 20 wards of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City after detecting 15,000 cases of dengue infection.

The order will be effective in the area demarcated by Barahachhetra Municipality-1 (Jhanda Chowk) in the west, and Ramdhuni Municipality-6 in the west-south.

Similarly, the demarcated area is inside Dharan from Nadaha Chowk of Barahachhetra Municipality-3.

Similarly, the administration also issued a prohibitory order from Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City-20 Tarahara Panipiya to the areas up to Dharan in the north.

The prohibitory order was enforced in the area from Kerabari (east) towards Dharan and from Bhedetar (north) of Sagurigadhi-6 in Dhankuta district towards the area of Dharan.

As per Clause 6 (3) of the Local Administration Act, social, religious, and political gatherings, and rallies have been prohibited for 24 hours since this midnight.

The administration has urged all bodies concerned within Dharan Sub-Metropolis not to organise any program including demonstrations and warned of action as per the Local Administration Act, 2028 in case of violation of the order.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Dharan Sub-Metropolis, Harka Raj Rai, appealed to Dharan Sub-Metropolis folks to maintain mutual harmony, brotherhood and unity.

Issuing an appeal on Friday, he mentioned that social relations would be disrupted if discrimination and disturbance seen in the society are foisted in ideology and put into practice.
