INSEC awards Rukaiya Khatun with Prakash Human Rights Award



KATHMANDU: The INSEC has decided to present this year’s Prakash Human Rights Award to Rukaiya Khatun.

The Award instituted by the Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) would be given to 45-year-old Khatun in recognition of her over two decades of contribution to building an exploitation and disparity-free society, said Kundan Aryal, Chairperson of INSEC.

Khatun is from Taulihawa, Kapilvastu district.

A five-member Award Selection Committee recommended Khatun for the Award which would be conferred on Khatun in an event to be organized in Kathmandu on August 1. Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki would grace the event as the chief guest.

The Award carries a purse of Rs 50,000. The Award was instituted in the name of the founding general secretary of INSEC, Prakash Kafle. Kafle died in an air crash on July 31 in 1992.

So far, 28 people from various walks of life have been honored with this Award.
