NC President Deuba responding to central members’ concerns

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba is scheduled to address the concerns raised by the party’s central committee members in a crucial meeting held at the central party office in Sanepa today.

The central committee meeting, which commenced on July 18, will conclude this afternoon with President Deuba’s statement.

During the meeting, heated debates and arguments took center stage, diverting the focus away from key issues such as the government’s functioning, policies, and the ruling coalition, among others.

Notably, the party’s central committee meeting had been pending for a year.

As per Clause 21 of the NC Charter, the party leadership should convene a central working committee meeting every two months, but this requirement was not met.

General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma have been vocal in their criticism of the party leadership for failing to address the concerns of the party effectively.

In addition to the ongoing discussions, the party is gearing up to launch a nationwide campaign soon to bolster its strength.

Despite having 168 members in the NC’s central committee, several positions remain vacant as President Deuba is yet to nominate some central members.

Furthermore, the appointment of a treasurer is still pending and awaits finalization.
