KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs formed a committee to investigate the issues raised by Prem Prasad Acharya of Ilam, who died during treatment after attempting self-immolation.

A six-member investigation committee has been formed led by Joint Secretary at the Home Ministry, Narayan Prasad Risal.

The committee members comprise the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Finance; the Under Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies; the Under Secretary of the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security; the Superintendent of Police from the Nepal Police; and the Deputy Director of the National Investigation Department.

The committee has been given the mandate to investigate all the issues raised by Acharya on social media and prepare a report as soon as possible and suggest what the government should do in this regard.

The Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday had given the responsibility to the Ministry of Home Affairs to investigate Acharya’s matter and prepare a report at the earliest.
