House of Representatives meeting postponed until Tuesday amid opposition obstruction

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the House of Representatives has been adjourned and rescheduled for Tuesday following continued obstruction by opposition parties.

According to a notice issued by the Federal Parliament Secretariat, the meeting has been postponed until 1:00 PM on Tuesday.

The decision was taken after the session, which had earlier been suspended for 15 minutes on Monday, could not proceed due to ongoing protests inside the House.

The Secretariat stated that the meeting could not be held at the scheduled time due to “special circumstances,” in accordance with Rule 6 (3) of the House of Representatives Regulations.

Earlier in the day, opposition lawmakers continued their protest, objecting to Prime Minister Balen Shah’s remarks related to border issues and national sovereignty.

Opposition parties have demanded that the prime minister appear in Parliament, issue an apology, and have his controversial remarks removed from the parliamentary record.

The parliamentary deadlock has continued for several days, with no agreement yet reached between ruling and opposition parties.
