SAFF-U-19 Football: Nepal enters semi-final, defeats Maldives by 4 goals



KATHMANDU: Nepal has made its place in the Semifinals of the SAFF u-19 Football tournament by defeating Maldives by 4-1 on Monday.

In the match played at Dasharath Stadium, Kathmandu this afternoon, Nepal scored two goals in the first half and two goals in the second half. Maldives scored one goal in the second half.

In the 18th minute, Nepal’s Prashant Laksam scored a goal. Then in the 30th minute, Samir Tamang scored the second goal.

In the 58th minute, Maldives returned the goal. However, Nepal’s Niranjan Dhami scored a goal in the 88th minute to retain the wide lead against Maldives.

Nepal’s Samir Tamang scored one more goal in extra time.

In this match, two players from Maldives and one from Nepal received red cards. Nepal’s Sujan Dangol and Maldives’ Mohammad Ian Hassan got red cards.

Nepal previously played against Pakistan last Thursday. Pakistan was defeated by 1 goal in that match.

The match between India and Bhutan will be played on Monday at 5:30 PM. This competition will be held till October 13th.

Group A of the tournament consists of Nepal, Maldives and Pakistan. The other group comprises India, Bhutan, and Bangladesh. Nepal won the first two editions of the tournament. However, India got victory in the last edition held in India last year.
