Fraudster arrested for deserting people in Philippines and Thailand, promising to take them to USA

KATHMANDU: The police have arrested a 34-year-old man allegedly involved in fraudulent activities promising to send people USA for foreign employment.

The Kathmandu Police apprehended Kamal Tamang, a 34-year-old resident of Pokhara-27, Kaski, currently residing in Kathmandu-8, Guheshwori, Kathmandu on charges extorting money from the people promising to take them to USA but deserting them to Thailand and Philippines.

According to the police,  Tamang extorted money ranging from 1.13 million to 6.0 million rupees and collected more than 262 million rupees from the victims.

Preliminary investigation has shown that Tamang is found to have taken Nepali to New Delhi, Sri Lanka, Dubai, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, Laos and Zambia and demanded more money to take them to USA.

Investigation is underway to find out Tamang’s network and his victims.
