KATHMANDU: Kathmandu University’s annual architecture festival, Prarambha ‘23, the second edition of the annual architecture fest is currently underway with programs already concluded ranging from workshops on software programs like Photoshop and Revit to model making and design competitions.
Prarambha — an opportunity for students to develop their skills and knowledge in architecture – is an event that brings together students, professionals, and enthusiasts from various fields to celebrate architecture and the arts.
The Prarambha event is not just an exhibition of models and projects, but a celebration of creativity, innovation, and collaboration in the field of architecture, a statement issued by Kathmandu University Architecture Club (KUARC), said.
“It is an event that inspires and motivates students, professionals, and industry leaders alike,” it added.
The first edition of the event, held in April 2022 showcased the talent and creativity of students studying architecture at the university.
Furthermore, a mini-exhibition and live art competition were held successfully at Basantapur Durbar Square in Kathmandu, where the students demonstrated selected projects to the public.
The Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Municipality, Sunita Dangol, visited the exhibition and commended the Prarambha team for showcasing how one can use public spaces to create an atmosphere of learning and growth.
Currently, the students have been working tirelessly to prepare for the grand exhibition of their projects, which will be held on April 27 at Kathmandu University’s Dhulikhel premises where visitors will have the chance to witness the culmination of a year’s worth of hard work, as students from all over Nepal come together to showcase their best and most innovative ideas.
The exhibition will also be a chance to connect with talented architecture students and explore potential collaborations, according to the statement.
Architecture students from other universities will have the opportunity to showcase their own work, share ideas and learn from each other in the event.
On April 26, there will be a panel discussion on the topic of “Exploration towards Modern and Traditional Architecture: Are we heading in the right direction?”
Keynote speaker Prof. Dr. Prem Nath Maskey, presenter Ar. Padma Sundar Maharjan, and panelists Prof. Dr. Mohan Moorti Pant, Rajendra Khatiwada from the Ministry of Urban Development, Ar. Poonam Shah, and Ar. Debesh Bhattarai will share their views on the occasion.
