Feel the responsibility to protect constitution, people’s rights: Leader Poudel

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress’ senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel has said he was now shouldering the responsibility of protecting citizens’ rights guaranteed by the constitution.

Senior leader Poudel made such observation after the NC’s Central Execution Committee meeting held this morning decided to make him the presidential candidate from the party.

He opined, “I am getting responsibility for the protection of constitution, promotion of nationality and prosperity of the Nepali people. I am aware about it.”

He expressed the belief that he had love and goodwill of all his friends from all political parties in the federal parliament and province assemblies as well.
Leader Poudel mentioned, “I want to urge all Nepali brothers and sisters to safeguard the nation and protect the constitution together.”

The NC CEC meeting has decided to field party’s former Acting President and the former Speaker Poudel as the presidential candidate in the upcoming March 9 election.

In the meeting chaired by party President Sher Bahadur Deuba and convened at the party’s central office at Sanepa, Lalitpur, party General-Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma proposed Poudel as the party’s presidential candidate.

The meeting has appealed to all political parties, members of House of Representatives, National Assembly and Province Assembly to help secure NC’s presidential candidate to defend the constitution as well as to strengthen federal democratic republic.

Furthermore, the meeting decided to register NC in the Election Commission of Nepal for the upcoming by-election to be held in Chitwan constituency no 2 for the House of Representatives on April 23.

Party President Deuba has been entrusted to present official letter to the party’s candidate to be fielded in that by-election.
