Boxer Tamang wins silver in U-22 Boxing Championship



KATHMANDU: Nepali boxer Sushma Tamang has clinched a silver medal in the U-22 Boxing Championship.

In women’s 48 kg category, she lost 5-0 to Fozilova Farzona from Uzbekistan in a match in Bangkok, Thailand.

This is the historic achievement by Tamang for Nepal. This is the first time Tamang made it to finals in the competition in the history of Nepal, and this is the first medal Nepal won in the Asian Boxing Championship.

Earlier, Nepal won a bronze medal in a boxing competition. She reached the final by defeating a Mongolian boxer.

Three women and three men from Nepal participated in the competition.
