LALITPUR, PATAN: The High Courts across the country have introduced an automated cause-list management system effective from Sunday.
Chief Justice Bishwombhar Prasad Shrestha inaugurated this system at a program held in the High Court Patan.
There are 18 high courts, each representing a province or a temporary bench, where this automated system will determine the cause list starting today.
Chief Justice Shrestha emphasized that this new system would enable service recipients to access services more easily, ensuring improved quality, transparency, and credibility in the court services as they become more technology-friendly.
“We’ve implemented this automated cause-list system successfully at the Supreme Court, and now, for the first time in judicial history, we’re extending it to high courts. It’s transparent, credible, and upholds quality without favoritism. This significant step was made possible by the IT Division of the Supreme Court, and plans are underway to extend this service to district courts soon,” stated Chief Justice Shrestha.
He clarified that the system operates without bias, effectively managing tasks requiring collaboration between the court and the legal representatives. Additionally, plans are advancing to establish a system for case registrations directly from law firms to the Supreme Court.
“We’re working towards a scenario where individuals won’t necessarily have to physically appear in court to obtain a hearing date. Both the Supreme Court and high courts are moving towards conducting hearings online,” Chief Justice Shrestha added.
Furthermore, preparations are ongoing to implement online hearings not only in remaining high courts but also in special and labor courts, along with the foreign employment tribunal.
