Exports decreases by 21 percent, and Nepal sells goods worth 157 billion rupees

KATHMANDU: In the last fiscal year 2079/80, Nepal’s exports decreased by 21.44 percent.

According to the data released by the Department of Customs, exports decreased during the period from Shrawan, 2079 to Ashadh, 2080 of the last financial year.

In the previous financial year 2078/79, Nepal exported 2 trillion rupees. In the last financial year, the country exported worth 157 billion rupees. This is 21.44 percent less than the previous financial year.

Similarly, during this period, Nepal imported 1.611 rupees from abroad. In the previous financial year, Nepal imported 1.92 trillion rupees. Imports have also decreased by 16 percent.

Nepal suffered a loss of 1.454 trillion rupees in foreign trade last financial year. The trade deficit has also been reduced by 15.45 percent. In the previous financial year, Nepal suffered a trade deficit of 1.72 trillion rupees.

Likewise, Nepal’s foreign trade has also decreased. As foreign trade declined by 16.58 percent, foreign trade was worth 1.768 trillion rupees in the last financial year. In the previous financial year, there was a foreign trade of 2.12 trillion rupees.
